Challenge Brief

Objective

Minimize polychromatic RMS spot size across 5 field points

Rules
  • Object distance: Infinity
  • EFL: 50 mm ± 1%
  • F-number: f/4 ± 2%
  • Elements: 3 – 6
  • Surface type: spherical only
  • Glasses: any supported catalog glass
  • Stop location: user-defined, but must remain within the optical system
  • BFD: ≥ 10 mm
  • Total track length: ≤ 80 mm
  • Field points (semi-field): 0°, 7°, 10°, 12°, 14°
  • Wavelengths: 0.486, 0.588, 0.656 μm with equal weights
  • Distortion: ≤ 2% at every field point
  • Minimum center thickness: 2 mm per element
  • Minimum edge thickness: 1 mm
  • Penalty term: P must penalize every constraint violation
